The Poolside King Suites and Bungalows offer roomy, light-filled spaces that are perfect for relaxed, candid getting-ready photos. Natural light comes in through windows and vintage décor adds a timeless feel that translates beautifully in film. You dont need to bring much. The hotel has every detail you could think of overly designed.

Event Spaces You Can Rent at The Lafayette

The Lafayette Hotel offers several spaces for weddings and private events, each with its own distinct atmosphere. Availability, guest capacity, food and beverage minimums, and rental requirements can vary, so it is best to contact the hotel’s event team for the most current information.

1. Lou Lou’s Jungle Room

Style: Glamorous, dramatic, and inspired by the jazz and supper clubs of the 1920s and 1930s

Features: A restored clamshell stage, hardwood dance floor, layered red fringe, live music setup, circular bar, and richly detailed interiors

Ideal for: Wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, live entertainment, and private celebrations

Lou Lou’s occupies the hotel’s historic ballroom, formerly known as the Mississippi Ballroom. It is one of the largest and most visually distinctive spaces at The Lafayette, making it an especially memorable option for couples who want their reception to feel more like an incredible night out than a traditional hotel event.

2. Poolside Courtyard

Style: Bright, playful, and effortlessly retro

Features: The hotel’s iconic pool, striped umbrellas, palm trees, lounge seating, cabanas, and a dedicated poolside bar

Ideal for: Cocktail hours, welcome parties, relaxed receptions, and post-wedding gatherings

The pool area is one of the most recognizable spaces at The Lafayette. It works especially well for couples who want a colorful outdoor setting with plenty of personality already built into the space.

3. The Lobby Bar

Style: Moody, elegant, and filled with vintage character

Features: Rich velvet seating, ornate lighting, patterned details, and a dramatic central bar

Ideal for: Welcome drinks, intimate celebrations, cocktail gatherings, and wedding portraits

The Lobby Bar is better suited to smaller gatherings than a traditional ceremony or full reception, but it provides a beautiful setting for guests to meet before dinner or continue celebrating after the formal events have ended.

4. Quixote

Style: Dark, intimate, and richly layered

Features: Dramatic candlelit interiors, carved wood, stained glass, religious-inspired architectural details, and several atmospheric dining spaces

Cuisine: Oaxacan-inspired dishes with an extensive selection of mezcal-forward cocktails

Ideal for: Rehearsal dinners, intimate receptions, elopement dinners, and private wedding celebrations

Quixote is one of the most visually impressive spaces inside the hotel. Its immersive interiors create an intimate, romantic atmosphere that requires very little additional décor. Private-event availability and full or partial restaurant buyouts should be discussed directly with the hotel’s event coordinator.

Pricing & Packages

While The Lafayette doesn’t publicly list pricing for every space, expect rental fees to range start at $30,000+, depending on the day of the week, time of year, and room or space you choose. What Is the Best Time of Year for a Wedding at The Lafayette Hotel?

San Diego is known for its mild weather and comfortable temperatures throughout most of the year, which makes The Lafayette Hotel a beautiful wedding venue in nearly any season. There is not necessarily a bad time to plan a wedding here, but each part of the year offers a slightly different atmosphere.

Late spring and early summer often bring San Diego’s famous May Gray and June Gloom, especially during the morning and early afternoon. The cloud cover can create soft, even light that photographs beautifully, although couples hoping for bright sunshine may prefer later in the summer or early fall. August and September are typically among the warmest months, while October is personally one of my favorite times of year along the San Diego coast. The weather is often warm, the evenings are comfortable, and the summer crowds have usually started to settle down.

Many of the wedding and event spaces at The Lafayette Hotel are indoors, which is worth considering when choosing your date. This also gives couples the benefit of a reliable backup plan in case of rain, wind, or unexpected weather. The hotel’s richly designed interiors mean you do not have to rely entirely on outdoor spaces to create beautiful wedding photos.
