Laguna Mountain Engagement Session
A Laguna Mountain engagement session means wide-open nature and a chance to roam around and be free. Laguna Mountain is only one of the several locations in the San Diego area that are perfect for an engagement session. Really any type of photo session could use this gorgeous backdrop: family, senior, bridal. 79 Hwy and Sunrise Hwy have no shortage of incredible places to get creative. It might seem far, but it’s only a short scenic road trip and totally worth a few hours in the car.
Before you head out I suggest studying the area a bit. Do a little research and get an idea of what you’d like to accomplish. The Lake Cuyamaca/Sunrise HWY/Laguna Mountain area is huge! It’s home to a wide variety of landscapes and has several trails that connect and intertwine. I’m all for the winging-it approach and highly encourage it. Sptananity does lead to amazing things. On this one, personally, I jotted a few notes down before heading out on this Laguna Mountain engagement session.
Map Out The Day
We knew we wanted to be in the mountains and having driven to Julian a few times, via 79 Hwy, I knew we’d be able to find a few killer locations along the route. We took the 8 east and headed towards the 79 which would take us east through Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Like I said before, the park is littered with hiking trails. Over 50 different trails n the surrounding area. It’s also home to the famous Pacific Crest Trail which goes 2,650 miles all the way from Mexico to Canada. Learn more about the trail here.
Along with the 79, you’ll come across pullouts for trailheads and viewpoints, campgrounds, and recreational areas. You won’t have a shortage of places to pull over a test out. Honestly anywhere you stop will be magic. Follow the light and you will find something spectacular. That’s pretty much exactly what we did on this day. Where ever the light went we followed.
Our first stop was between Green Valley and Cuyamaca Meadow. We found an open turnoff and took advantage of some brief cloud coverage. Like I mentioned before there are trails everywhere. Almost anywhere you pull off you’ll be connected to a trail where you can go and explore. From there we followed the 79 to the Sunrise Hwy stopping at Kwaaymii Point, Big Laguna Trailhead, and making our final stop at the top of Mt Laguna for sunset. A spot we had all to ourselves giving us the chance to really be as carefree as we wanted. Champagne and dancing included!

A California based photographer keeping it real and capturing all the perfect moments. Hey! My name is Teresa. Between my large Sicilian family, crazy friends and animated boyfriend, I have a tremendous amount of nicknames. SO we will go with Teresa for now but feel free to get creative once we get to know each-other. I was born and raised on the Central Coast in the small town of Templeton, lived in LA during my early 20’s and then spent about 6 years in New York. I’m now back in CA and loving every moment. All I can say is sunshine and tacos, but I do miss bagels and pizza. I love to travel, be outside, cycle and discover new places, eat ice cream and enjoy a cheeseburger, french fries and an ice cold beer tremendously. I’m pretty damn normal, easy to be around and love to laugh around new company. If you are ready, I am ready. Let’s dive in! www.teresalojacono.com
